Our “self-ligating” braces, combined with new, space-age orthodontic wires, have resulted in fewer appointments, shorter treatment time and increased patient comfort. You can also check your scheduled appointments or make payments online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are also are one of a few practices in Virginia that use digital, filmless X-rays, which reduce radiation exposure by 70-90 percent.
  6. We're family-friendly. Our dedication to quality care extends to your family with our Family Care discount program.
  7. We're thorough. We deliver the most comprehensive orthodontic care available and provide continuous feedback to our patients, parents and their dentists.

  10. We look to the future. For our younger patients, we use early treatment, when appropriate, to help avoid the need for extractions or jaw surgery in the future. Many of the patients that we see may need orthodontics but are not yet ready for treatment. Each of these patients is enrolled in our “Future Smiles” program at no cost as a courtesy to our families with young children.

New Millennium Orthodontics
Dr. White and his team have combined proven methods of traditional orthodontic treatment with the latest technology to create one of the most advanced orthodontic systems in the country. Dr. White uses advanced techniques (several of which he’s designed) found in only the finest orthodontic practices to achieve superior results in the fastest time possible. New Millennium Orthodontics has several unique features:

New Millennium Orthodontics provides excellent results, but we are most proud of the way it’s delivered. Our team goes the extra mile to make sure that each of our patient’s visits are enjoyable and informative. We embrace the latest technology to provide outstanding customer service as well:

Digital Imaging/IACT: New patients are greeted with a friendly smile, a tour of our office and the flash of a digital camera. These digital images are then projected onto a computer screen to enhance a patient’s understanding of his/her orthodontic problems. We then use an interactive communication program (IACT) that employs graphics, animation and morphing to educate our patients regarding their treatment options.

Digital X-Rays: We are one of a few practices in the state to have fully digital panoramic and cephalometric X-rays. Digital X-rays use 70-90 percent less radiation and provide instantaneous images, which allow us to identify any dental problems or skeletal imbalances for a thorough diagnosis.

Sterilization/Infection Control: Our sterilization systems meet or exceed guidelines established by OSHA and the CDC. We use disposable materials whenever possible and all of our instruments are heat or chemically sterilized. Our sterilization techniques are verified by an independent biological monitoring service on a daily basis. Finally, we never use “recycled” braces that were worn by another patient.

Our service continues even when patients are not in our office. New technology provides access to our practice anytime, day or night:

HouseCalls: This appointment confirmation system uses the telephone to alert patients of upcoming appointments.

T-Link: This Internet-based system has several unique features. In addition to appointment confirmation via e-mail, T-Link provides secure, round-the-clock access to appointment dates and times, as well as account balances and much more. Patients can now make payments online anytime, day or night.

By utilizing New Millennium Orthodontics, we offer a unique orthodontic experience that provides superior results that our patients want and outstanding customer service that our patients deserve.

A Consumers guide to choosing an Orthodontist

Because orthodontics can affect the health of your teeth and jaws for years to come, choosing an orthodontist is an important decision. Unfortunately not all orthodontic treatment is the same because not all orthodontists are trained in similar fashion, which makes your decision even more critical. We are committed to providing each of our patients with the finest orthodontic care available. Educated consumers are our best patients so we'd like to help you with this important selection. There are basically four areas of concern:

The Orthodontist
Dr. White practiced general dentistry for seven years before becoming an orthodontist, which gives him an added perspective in treating patients. Dr. White has had extensive training in the treatment of disorders of the jaw joint (TMJ). In fact, many patients are referred to him for TMJ treatment and not just for braces. This training makes Dr. White uniquely qualified to detect a pre-existing jaw joint disorder or to treat a TMJ problem that may arise during orthodontics. Technology is rapidly changing, and Dr. White has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education courses to maintain the excellence that he believes his patients deserve. He's most proud of the successful completion of a two-year advanced post-graduate course in TMJ treatment and functional occlusion. Dr. White's greatest assets are his love for his patients and his total commitment to their treatment success.

The Diagnosis and Treatment Plan
A thorough diagnosis and a well-prepared treatment plan are critical elements for a successful result. Cutting corners in the diagnosis can lead to problems during orthodontic therapy or unrealistic treatment goals. Dr. White “customizes” the treatment plan for each patient to provide an ideal bite, stable jaw joint positions and enhanced facial aesthetics. We use computer imaging to “fast forward” the way a patient's face will look with a particular type of treatment so that we may select the plan that provides the most attractive appearance. Properly positioning the teeth and coordinating the bite with the correct jaw joint position is most important in creating a healthy, functional and comfortable result that will remain stable. Most orthodontic treatment is planned using models of the teeth that are held together by hand. We place these models on an instrument called a bite simulator, which allows us to study the relationship of the upper and lower teeth when the jaw joints are correctly positioned. The only way to insure that the bite is “harmonized” with a stable jaw joint position is with the use of a bite simulator.

The Treatment
We use only the highest quality orthodontic materials, and we never use recycled braces or wires to cut our costs. We have a unique way of putting on the braces. We use a rubber bonding tray, which allows us to bond a full set of braces on all the teeth at one time instead of individually placing each one by hand. This makes for a much shorter appliance placement appointment and provides much more precise positioning of the braces, which is critical for optimal treatment. Most orthodontists usually do not put braces on the second molars unless they are extremely misaligned. Dr. White's experience with TMJ treatment has taught him that a majority of these cases are caused by an improper bite involving the second molars. Therefore, we always put braces on all of the teeth, including the second molars. An inability to coordinate the bite with a stable jaw joint position can result in post-orthodontic complications such as relapse (crowding), worn or loose teeth and TMJ problems including jaw joint clicking or locking, pain and severe headaches. After the braces are removed, patients are given the option of wearing an appliance made on the bite simulator called a tooth positioner, which coordinates the bite with a stable jaw joint position. We then check the results with a final set of models mounted on the bite simulator after the braces have been removed.

The Cost/Value
Let's face it, no one wants to pay anymore than necessary for braces so there's a tendency to select the cheapest orthodontic treatment. And that would be a valid decision if all orthodontic treatment was the same, but it's not. Unfortunately, the cost of having braces twice far exceeds the cost of well-planned, high-quality orthodontic treatment provided once. The extra steps that we take throughout treatment ensure a more stable result later on. Dr. White doesn't want the fee to prevent anyone from having the excellent orthodontic treatment that they deserve, so we offer a variety of payment options to meet your needs. We realize that you have a choice of orthodontists. We want you to be happy with your decision years after the braces have been removed. Careful planning before you begin can help eliminate unnecessary aggravation and expense in the future. Excellent orthodontic treatment is a wise investment in your smile that will pay big dividends for years to come. If there is anything that our office can do to help you in facilitating your selection, please give us a call (740-3395).

Thoughts from the Moose Family:

We have been patients of Dr White’s for over 7 years and it has been a positive experience from the beginning! Even when the office moved to Twin Hickory (and we live in Midlothian) we knew switching orthodontists was not an option.

The entire staff is so professional and always greets us with a smile! The new office is not only beautiful but has all the modern technology to provide the highest quality of treatment.

Our daughter had her braces removed today and her smile is beautiful! The before and after photos are stunning! We still have 2 years to go with our youngest daughter-but it will be well worth the wait. I would strongly recommend White Orthodontics, as they are by far the best in town!!

Thank so much for everything! I liked the fact Stephanie did not have to have jaw surgery to correct her bite. We have been through 5 sets of braces with you guys for 3 kids. One more to go! Jennifer sent us rubber bands in the mail to save us a total of 1 ½ hour drive! Thanks a lot!! Carolyn has been great by calculating our money payments and helping when we got insurance and didn’t know how that worked. Marcia has helped us several times with difficult scheduling situations with a lot of patience and understanding. Kristi even met us in Gum Spring on her way home to bring us a retainer that needed repair. Thanks so much for all you guys do with a SMILE!

From the moment we entered Dr White’s office and were greeted by a welcoming staff and surrounded by a fun and relaxing environment. We knew we had found the right place.

Dr White’s team has always gone the extra mile. From the postcards that Dillon has received in the mail from the different staff members, to the genuine care and concern he has received during each visit from Dr White and staff makes me so thankful to have been referred to Dr White’s office.

The only negative comment that I have is that once Dillon’s braces are off and the orthodontic treatments stop---we will really miss everyone!!

A great big thank you-
Vickie and Dillon Rapalee

We have been very pleased with White Orthodontics. We love the beautiful new facilities! The staff has always been pleasant. Dr White and the other staff members have kept us well informed and have done a great job explaining how to use rubber bands, head gear, etc. How time has flown-it is hard to believe it’s time for braces to come off! The years go by quickly! We appreciate the phone calls a day ahead to remind us of our appointments. We’ve never found scheduling appointments to be a problem, and at times, we’ve received calls to schedule us earlier in the month than we anticipated. The children LOVE the video arcade-it keeps them entertained while they wait! We’ll continue coming to White Orthodontics—two more mouths to go! Thank you!

We have been very happy with our experience at Dr. White’s office. They are always very professional, yet caring—an important combination in an orthodontist’s office! We are always seen in a timely manner and we certainly appreciate that! The office is very comfortable and appealing for all ages. My 2-year old loves the playroom! We would recommend Dr. White for anyone looking for an orthodontist.

BTW, we went to another orthodontist first because he was a bit cheaper. He did not have her wear headgear or rubber bands, therefore it did nothing except straighten her front teeth. We wasted precious time and money on this and obviously would do it differently if we could do it over again. It’s worth a little more money to do it right the first time!

Dear Dr. White,

Just a note to express genuine appreciation for the exceptional care you and your staff gave me during the 2-½ years of my treatment. I am EXTREMELY pleased. You are a “perfectionist” and that’s wonderful attitude for the orthodontist I needed. If I had to rate you and your staff on a on a scale of 1-10 where 10 indicated superb, I’d have to note White Orthodontics at least a 20.

You’ve been a blessing indeed and I have already recommended you to several people who have need of similar treatment. Many, many thanks for excellence.

May God bless each of you,
Sandra B. Nutall, PhD

Your group has exceeded our expectations at every visit.  Some particular highlights:

  • personal phone calls to check up after braces/expander on
  • all staff-very happy and professional
  • our child was high maintenance at every stage-your staff was patient and caring in situations where most people would have lost their cool
  • great facilities
  • the old location was closer for us, but is wasn’t bad at all coming to the new location (we were apprehensive-we live near U of R)
  • incentive programs were great-especially highlighting opportunities to give (to charities) at various times of the year

I honestly can’t think of any suggestions, just keep doing what you’re doing!  Oh, by the way, Paige’s teeth look great!

Brady’s experience with Phase I of his braces has been great. The staff was wonderful-offering advice and giving warnings about what to expect at each turn. However, as a parent with hundreds of things to do each day, I most appreciated the professional manner in which the office is run. Appointment times are kept-no waiting or delays-calls come the day before as reminders, and everyone knows Brady when we come to the office. Thanks for all you’ve done for him.

Dear Dr. White,

Michael and I are thrilled with Alex’s teeth results. We never imagined how beautiful the end result would be for her. You really did a great job. We know it was a long process but it really was worth the wait.

I wish you could have seen Michael’s face that evening when we got home; he was so pleased and happy. Oh yeah, he also said “it was money well spent”.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Please know how very much we appreciate all you and your wonderful staff did for Alex. You have one great bunch of staff-they have always been so helpful, warm and friendly. They are great as well! Thanks to all of you. Hope all of you have a great summer. I think you already know how happy and pleased Alex was!!!

Thanks again, Alex, Francene and Michael Katzen

November 2004

Dr. Dr. White and Staff,

I am writing you to tell you how much my life has changed since I got my braces off in June. For as long as I can remember, I have always been extremely self-conscious about smiling at anyone. I’ve always hated taking pictures with my family because I knew when I saw the picture I would hate the way I looked. All through high school, college, and graduate school I wished I could get braces and fix my teeth. It wasn’t until I was thirty years old that I finally took the plunge. It dawned on me that what might be slightly inconvenient and uncomfortable for a couple of years would be a change for the rest of my life. I decided I could live with that.

You were the second orthodontist I came to see for a consultation. The first one was nice but his office and equipment looked to be at least thirty years old. I wasn’t impressed. The instant I entered your office I was. The friendly receptionist, bright colors, and overall atmosphere were very calming and welcoming. My consultation was quick but thorough. I left with a clear understanding of what my treatment options and financial obligations would be. I was thrilled to learn that I would be able to make a down payment and then pay monthly with zero percent interest!

I began my treatment when my son Noah turned one. I remember the day I got the last part of my braces on. Later that night I wasn’t feeling too great (my mouth that is) and you called my house to see how I was. I remember thinking how nice that was, because I knew how busy you were. You may think it was a small thing, but it stuck with me.

During the next two years I tried to be a good patient. I wanted to get my braces off! I wore my bands like I was told to and did all of the other things a good patient should do. One thing I learned quickly about you was that you are a PERFECTIONIST! J I knew you would never that those braces off until you were 110% happy with my smile and bite. Even though I occasionally wished I could rip my braces off myself, I was confident in my trust in you to wait for perfection. After all, what else would I want after so many years of hiding my teeth and wishing for something better?

During my two years of treatment, I was repeatedly amazed by the efficient and professional manner in which your office operated. The receptionists were always helpful and friendly (even on the phone). Your orthodontic assistants took great care of me for over two years. They were always friendly, organized, knowledgeable, skilled, and thorough. While wearing braces I became pregnant and had my second son, Matthew. I appreciated the careful attention your office gave to me during this time.

When I got my braces off in June of this year, nothing could prepare me for what I saw when I looked in the mirror. No dream, awake or asleep, could ever come close to the feeling I had that day. My teeth were perfect! I looked in the mirror and thought to myself, “those do NOT look like my teeth”! I thought they were beautiful! That was the first time in my entire life I looked in the mirror and thought my smile was beautiful. It was more than worth it! I can tell you honestly that I would do it all again if I had to. Fortunately for me, I found the perfect orthodontist and I won’t have to do it all again. I have met so many people who have worn braces but still have an incorrect bite and/or crooked teeth.

Dr. White, thank you for your dedication and commitment to excellence and your strive to perfection. I admire the ease and confidence with which you work and find your positive attitude contagious. It is clear you are deeply respected by your staff and patients. In short, you have changed my life. I am so much happier when I look in the mirror. I am confident and comfortable when I smile and talk to people, and I am grateful to you because of it. I now have an almost four years old boy and a one a half year old boy. If my children ever need braces, I won’t hesitate for a second to bring them to you. Thank you again for everything you have done for me. I appreciate it more than words can say.

Sincerely,
Beth Cornwell
